CNC / Machining

Computerized, numerically controlled equipment means quality work on time for you. CNC production equipment allows us to use the most efficient machines for the job.

The abbreviation CNC stands for Computer Numerical Control, and refers specifically to the computer "controller" of that reads the G-code instructions and drives the machine tool.

CNC was developed in the late 1940s and early 1950s by the MIT Servomechanisms Laboratory. CNC was preceded by NC (Numerically Controlled) machines, which did the same job of interpreting G-code recorded on Punched tape into motions of the machine using a electronic hardware. The first CNCs used NC hardware, and the computer was used for the tool compensation calculations and sometimes for editing.
